This introductory somatic exercises online four-week course is designed to enhance and improve health and wellbeing. The course is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and health levels.The course consists of four live online sessions, each of which is followed by a tutorial video that outlines and explains every technique covered in the session. This enables you to practice and perfect the exercises in your own time.

Somatic exercise techniques such as Feldenkrais, Alexander technique, and somatic yoga use repetitive, gentle movements in order to rewire the brain and nurture the brain-body connection. People who suffer from chronic pain for example can find that these gentle motions can help to ease their symptoms.The process of using the simple motions of somatic exercise to create new, less troublesome pathways in the brain is known as sensory-motor learning. Each week will focus on a different part of the body:Module 1- Finding and improving flexibility and freedom of movementModule 2- Restoring the health and flexibility of the spine in movementModule 3- Reducing tension and discomfort in the neck and shoulders.Module 4- Dealing with lower back health and comfort.
The course is four weeks long and online via Zoom. It runs on Thursday evenings from the 17th of March until the 7th of April 2022 between 19.00 and 20.00 (GMT).You will need a chair (not a sofa or armchair) and a yoga mat or soft blanket. Wear loose and warm clothing that you feel comfortable moving freely in.
