About Course
The ‘Trauma reflex’ or ‘flexion reflex’ is part of three unconscious somatic reflexes of unconscious body tensions caused by our way of life: the ‘green reflex’ or Landau reflex and the ‘red reflex’ or startle reflex.
This video addresses the ‘trauma reflex’, which is felt and impacts the sides of the body.
Join a 90-minute somatic masterclass focused on understanding and releasing the trauma reflex—an unconscious muscular pattern that forms in response to physical or emotional trauma, injuries, or poor posture.
When one side of the body is injured or restricted, the flexor reflex kicks in, contracting muscles to protect the affected area. In contrast, the crossed-extensor reflex stabilises the opposite side.
Though helpful in the short term, these reflexes can lead to chronic muscular patterns, causing misalignment, pain, and dysfunctional movement.
In this session, you’ll learn to become aware of these patterns and gently release them through mindful movement, breathwork, and relaxation techniques, including pandiculation, somatic spinal and side-bending movements, diagonal stretch, somatic shoulder and pelvic release, and breathwork.
This session is perfect for anyone seeking to address the physical impacts of psychological or physical trauma and enhance their overall wellbeing.
No prior yoga experience is needed—just an open heart and a desire to unwind.
